History

This dream high fun like palace was built in 1754 by Maharana Jagat Singh II.

Its original name was Jag Nivas , after the name of Maharana. Its modern name is the Lake Palace.

 The idea of this palace came up as a royal summer resort of Udaipur.

In the years later the descendants of Jagat Singh, used it as a summer resort.

The exterior attractions pull you inside, where you find the perfections of the seventh heaven.

Architectural Attractions

A spell bound tourist can see a series of courtyards,that are aligned with numerous columns, terraces, beautiful fountains and gardens.  

More grace is added to this palace with variety of rooms like Bada Mahal, Khush Mahal, Ajjan Nivas, Phool Mahal, and Dhola Mahal.

Beauty is lavishly showered on these rooms with its carved arches , paintings , crystal work, stained glass work, inland stones of pink and green lotus leaves the image of the palace in the middle of the lake is like a leaf straight out of the books of the fairy tale.

The Present Palace

 This palace has been beautifully transformed into a hotel in the last few years. It is managed by Taj Group of Hotels.
