CM Naveen Patnaik distributed smart health cards to 4.36 lakh people, including 68,575 in the Steel City. in the Sundergarh and also dedicated various development projects in the district. CM Patnaik also inaugurated and laid foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 550 crore in Rourkela. He also attended a special function at the auditorium of Rourkela Super Specialty Hospital. Among others, Health Minister Naba Das and MLAs Sarada Prasad Nayak and Subrat Tarai were present. During Independence Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar, CM Naveen had announced that smart health cards would be given to 3.5 crore people in the state under BSKY. The Smart Health Card will be provided to 3.5 crore people of 96 lakh families. Each family can avail treatment cost up to Rs 5 lakh per annum. Women members can avail this benefit up to Rs 10 lakh every year. With effect from September 1, people will be able to access healthcare facilities at government and private hospitals using these cards. Odisha is the first state in the country to have provided such facility in the health sector. This card will be given to all the beneficiaries phase-wise. According to the state government, under this scheme, a person can simply go to a hospital with their card and avail all the required treatments without any hassle. The beneficiaries of BSKY can avail treatment at over 200 hospitals across the country. The smart cards will help them to avail the facilities.
