The incident has taken place at Karlakhunta village under Kesinga Police Station (PS) limits.The mother, identified as Sindhu Bag (55), was declared dead by the doctor in the Kesinga Community Health Centre (CHC) while her critically injured daughter Ranjita has been admitted to the same CHC. The accused, identified as Tilkar Naik, attacked them with a sharp knife when they were returning home from the village pond. Father Tulsi Bag informed media, “My daughter had gone to bathe with her mother when the boy forcibly caught hold of her and attacked with a knife. The attacker is Tilkar. He had an affair with my daughter over a year. We had lodged a police complaint against him. A compromise was struck out by the police with a warning to him not to repeat the same act. The police had also advised us to file FIR in case he didn’t mend his way.
