BHAWANIPATNA: In a bid to create more job opportunities for the youths in Odisha, Indian Air Force (IAF) has decided to conduct a recruitment rally at Kalahandi in December.
Odisha’s Kalahandi district was in the news recently for Dana Majhi who carried his wife’s body from hospital as he was denied a hearse.
The first ever recruitment rally for the armed forces being organised in the district is hoping participation from youths across neighbouring districts including Bolangir, Subarnapur, Nuapada, Kandhmal, Boudh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Bargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur Jharsuguda, Sundergarh and Sambalpur . Most of these districts are dominated by tribal communities and the youth from the region will get an opportunity for the jobs in the IAF, said the commanding officer of the rally Sumit Tripathy
Talking to the media persons on Thursday, the commanding officer and Kalahandi collector Dr Brundha D said the recruitment rally will be for airmen Group-X (technical) posts.
The rally assumes significance in view of the low representation from the State in the forces. The move is expected to enable the authorities to reach out to a maximum number of aspirants from across the State. The upper age limit is 21 on the date of enrollment and there will be both written test and adaptability test for candidates.
Nearly 5,000 candidates from 15 districts are expected to participate in the recruitment rally, Tripathy said.
“The district administration will provide all logistic supports for smooth conduct of recruitment drive,” the collector assured.
The aspiring candidates can register their names at Lalbahadur Shastri Stadium, here from 7 AM to 2 PM on November 19. While Written Test snd Adaptability Test-1 will be conducted on December 15, Physical Fitness Test and Adaptability Test-2 will be held the next day.
