BHAWANIPATNA: A migrant labourer Gabar Majhi (19) went missing mysteriously barely 3 km from his home in Kanakchuan village under Bhawanipatna Sadar police limits.
Gabar was working in Kerala for the last five years and was returning home when he went missing. His father Rama Majhi lodged a missing complaint with the police on Sunday.
Rama claimed that Gabar was carrying cash and garments for the family members and was supposed to return home on February 23 evening. The family members were eagerly waiting to see him after five years but as he did not turn up, they began searching for him.
On February 24, they learnt that Gabar had stayed back in the house of one Andri Bewa and her husband Chingu Majhi in Pradungud as it was late. He had even gone to the house one Biranchi Majhi to charge his mobile before mysteriously disappearing. Although his bag was lying in the house of Chingu and mobile in the house of Biranchi, there was no trace of Gabar.
Rama went to the police station where he was accosted by a contractor, who told him that his son had returned to Kerala and assured him that he would facilitate his conversation with Gabar. But, Rama is not sure whether the man to whom he spoke over phone was his son Gabar. Sub-divisional Police Officer Biranchi Prasad Dehuri said police will try to ascertain the whereabouts of Gabar.
