This palace resembles the medieval castles that were built in Normandy and England. History King Chamaraja Wodeyar of Wodeyar dynasty during his trips to England was impressed by the Windsor castle of London and the Tudor style architecture. So he got the palace built in the city. Features Though it has lost its original charm, it still captivates the hearts of the tourists with its fortified towers, gothic window , battlements and turrets. It is mainly constructed on wood. It has magnificient carvings and paintings. Today it is an exquisite for exhibitions , concerts and cultural programmes in the city. The ground has a large open square. The square is filled with granite seats which are decorated with fluroscent blue ceramic tiles. It has a ballroom, where the royal parties to be held. On the first floor, known as the durbar hall, was used by the king for addressing the king. On the hall top there is a colossal elephant head. Its walls are decorated with beautiful paintings of the walls of durbar hall has a set of windows, which are decorated with stained glass. Yellow colour is abundantly used in the hall. A screen at the end of the room, provides a veil to the ladies, when they used to sit and watch the assembly proceedings. Many beautiful paintings, including that of Raja Ravi Verma are found here. The other attractions of the palace include a dining table of the diwan of Mysore Sri Mirza Ismail. This tourist hot-spot today belongs to the Mysore royal family and has undergone many renovations. Anytime Bangalore palace greets you with open arms. How to Reach and Exact Location One can reach Bangalore by air from anywhere of the country. Bangalore also can be reached by rail and road from anywhere of the country. After reaching the city every one can reach here by catching local buses and also can hire taxis or auto- rickshaws from anywhere throughout the city.
