Kalahandi News 3 Dead, Over 19.5 Lakh People Affected Under Impact Of Heavy Rainfall In Odisha by Kalahandi Info September 14, 2021 written by Kalahandi Info September 14, 2021 0 comment 259 views Share 0FacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappEmail Bhubaneswar: Three human casualties have been reported in Odisha as heavy rain lashed most parts of the State during the past 24 hours under the impact of Depression over the Bay of Bengal, informed the Special Relief Commissioner’s (SRC’s) Office in a ‘Situation Report on Heavy Rain’ quoting preliminary report received from districts. The ‘Situation Report on Heavy Rain’ released to the press this evening said that while two of the human casualties were due to wall collapse in Kendrapara district, the other was due to drowning in Khordha district. According to the report, a total of 19, 53,647 people have been affected in 2789 villages and 14 urban local bodies (ULBs) in 53 blocks across 11 districts. The affected districts are Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Cuttack, Jajpur, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Khordha and Angul. The maximum number of villages have been affected in Jagatsinghpur-1321, followed by Kendrapara 811, Jajpur 515, Puri 52, Khordha 32, Kandhamal 20, Koraput 20, Dhenkanal 9, Angul 4, Kalahandi 3 and Cuttack 2. Similarly, a maximum number of people-11,36,971 were affected in Jagatsinghpur district; 7,79,241 in Kendrapara district; 15,434 in Puri district; 10,000 in Kandhamal district; 8,000 in Jajpur district; 2556 in Cuttack district; 1257 in Khordha district; 125 in Koraput district; 44 in Kalahandi district and 19 in Angul district, the report said. The report stated that a total of 3,819 people have been evacuated to safer places, the highest number of 1590 people in Jagatsinghpur district, 1584 in Puri district, 532 in Kendrapara district, and 106 in Cuttack district. Besides, the report has stated that a total of 265 houses have been damaged, the highest 98 being in Khordha district, 75 in Jagatsinghpur district, 25 in Koraput district, 17 Kendrapara district, 15 in Kandhamal district, 11 in Dhenkanal district, 7 in Jajpur district and 6 in Angul district.
