BHAWANIPATNA: The recent flash flood in Kalahandi district has destroyed roads, crops, public properties and houses worth several crores. This was revealed by the district administration after a preliminary assessment of flood damage on Monday.
According to reports, 354 kms of roads in 780 gram panchayat have been damaged or washed away and an amount of `13.73 crore will be required for restoration of these roads. Around 149 culverts have been washed away and `5.59 crore would be required for reconstruction. Piped water supply systems of PHED were washed away and 19 panchayat buildings, community centres have been damaged. Administrative sources said 112 houses were completely damaged and 30,180 houses partially damaged.
Apart from crop loss, 1,416 hectares of farm land have been sand cast.
